Transition and Turbulence Modeling

Although the basic equations of fluid motions have been well known for long, their complete solution in practical applications is beyond the scope of present and foreseeable computers. Models are thus required to account for the transition to turbulence mechanisms as well as to represent at least a part of the turbulent motion. This paper aims at giving an overview of the present modeling practices and the models developed or imported by Onera and implemented in the CEDRE and/or elsA solvers.
